Wormwood or Artemisia officinalis is used in two main cases. The first concerns the normalization of menstruation(period). In this case it is considered that helps both emmenagogue(induces bleeding, when there has been no regular menstruation), as well as in the treatment of excessive bleeding. The use of the herb dilates blood vessels, lowers blood pressure and reduces swelling in urinary retention. Inter alia it is used as laxative and antiseptic and is believed to eliminate tinea versicolor and other skin diseases. Recommended in cases of diabetes mellitus, obesity and rickets.

Wormwood is used as a tonic for the digestive system. It is also believed to facilitate the digestion of fats - for this reason belongs to so - called "herbal slimming". At the same time, it is thought to increase the production of bile, stimulates the digestive system and treat indigestion, heartburn and "bloating".
