Basil originates from India and is considered valuable because “it clears the mind and appeases the heart”. In many parts of the world, basil was known for its quality to protect against diseases. The Ancient Greeks carried basil to have a good trip when on expeditions and the Romans used it as sedative.

The "tea" of basil is particularly digestive, diuretic and tonic, soothing the gut and nervous headaches.
